The Rays Amongst the Clouds

It had been a hard week. Late in the afternoon, I drove into town to run some errands. The dark, puffy clouds reflected my mood and the circles under my eyes. Frustration and self-pity cast shadows on my heart in the same way the clouds cast shadows on the ground. I wallowed in the frustration of long nights and altered plans.
I then looked up at the sky and gasped. The sun shone brightly through the dismal clouds. It cast brilliant beams from the heavens to earth. And it occurred to me, I wouldn’t see the rays without the ominous clouds.
Our dark clouds can be the threat of difficult situations raining down on us. These circumstances and frustrations can leave us despondent and worn. Yet, it is in our struggles that we can most clearly see the hand of God, sustaining, protecting, and guiding us. As the rays stream down from the clouds, may you find God’s hand brings you hope as He provides and protects you among life’s storms.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27 ESV
