Restore Your Soul

Step 2: Christ - Know Jesus and Accept Him as Your Savior

To the One Who Has Not Accepted Jesus:

You can use the prayer below as a guide to accept Jesus into your heart:

Before the beginning of the world, God had a plan for how to heal and cleanse humanity from its broken state. God is made up of three persons, the Father, the Son- Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. (2 Corinthians 13:14 NIV). Jesus is God, and He stepped down from His throne in heaven and came to earth, humbling Himself as a human baby. He did what humanity has never been able to do- live a sinless life. (1 John 3:5 NIV) He then willingly died on the cross to take away our sin and pay the debt that we could not repay on our own. (Col 2:14 NIV) Then on the third day, Jesus rose from the grave, defeating both death and sin. (1 Corinthians 15:4 NIV). This provided a way for us to be connected to a perfect, Holy God.

The disciples questioned Jesus as to who he was and how they would know the way. Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one can come to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 NIV). The disciples remained confused about who Jesus was. Jesus further explained to them, "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father." Jesus is the image of the invisible God, come in human form. (John 14:9 NIV). He is the only one who can restore your soul, because He paid the debt we cannot pay.

Knowing and accepting Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life is THE crucial step in soul restoration. Without this step, lasting and eternal restoration is not possible. A relationship with Jesus is the only way to complete wholeness. No one is perfect on this earth. We all have sinned. We have incurred a debt that needs to be paid. God is holy, meaning set apart and perfect; He cannot dwell with us in our sinful state. (1 John 1:5 NIV) Justice must be paid when wrong is done in this world.

Paul says in Romans 10:9 NIV, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." When we pray and confess our brokenness to God, and invite him to be our savior. The Holy Spirit comes and resides within us as a counselor, interceding on our behalf. (Romans 8:26 NIV) Without confessing that Jesus is Lord of our lives, there can be no restoration.

Step 2: Pray to Accept Jesus Into Your life

Dear Jesus, I know I have sinned and can't save myself. I believe Jesus died on the cross for my sins and rose again. I repent of my sins, and I ask Jesus to be my Savior and Lord. Wash me clean, and help me follow you. Amen"

If you have invited Jesus to be your Savior and partner in this life, and you are now sealed with the Counselor- the Holy Spirit that guides us through this life. (Eph 1:13-14 NIV) You are adopted into his family as his child. He will partner with you through the next two steps and will forever guide you throughout your life.

To the One Who Has Already Accepted Jesus:

If you are already a Christian and have accepted Jesus in your life in the past. There is no need to ask him to save you again, because you cannot lose your salvation once you have accepted Christ into your life. (Eph 1:13-14) The difficulties lie in the fact that we continue to sin and have traumatic experiences that plague our lives even as Christians. You may ask, "I have accepted Christ into my life, but I do not feel the peace or soul restoration that you speak of."

There are times when we feel distant from God for many reasons. Sometimes this distance is due to unconfessed habitual sin in our lives, and at other times to difficult circumstances.

The Lord encourages us that He will never leave us or forsake us. In difficult times, we can take on the feeling of an "orphaned spirit." We can feel abandoned and alone in our struggles.

I want to encourage my sisters that you can hold onto the promise that you are not alone.

God gives us a way that when we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all wrongdoing. He will never not forgive us when we come to ask him for forgiveness.

Come before the throne of grace that we have access to as a daughter of the high king. Let us confess when we have done wrong or seek him out in times of trial that are not related to sin. He is there waiting with arms open wide to comfort his beloved children.
