Step 2: Christ - Know Jesus and Accept Him as Your Savior

To the One Who Has Not Accepted Jesus:

You can use the prayer below as a guide to accept Jesus into your heart:

​Dear Jesus, I know I have sinned and can't save myself. I believe Jesus died on the cross for my sins and rose again. I repent of my sins, and I ask Jesus to be my Savior and Lord. Wash me clean, and help me follow you. Amen"

​

Knowing and accepting Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life is THE crucial step in soul restoration. Without this step, lasting and eternal restoration is not possible. Having a relationship with Jesus is the only way to salvation. No one is perfect on this earth. We all have sinned. We have incurred a debt that needs to be paid. God is holy, meaning set apart and perfect; He cannot dwell with us in our sinful state. (1 John 1:5 NIV) Justice must be paid when wrong is done in this world.

Paul says in Romans 10:9 NIV, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." When we pray and confess our brokenness to God, and invite him to be our savior. The Holy Spirit comes and resides within us as a counselor, interceding on our behalf. (Romans 8:26 NIV) Without confessing that Jesus is Lord of our lives, there can be no restoration.

Before the beginning of the world, God had a plan. God is made up of three persons, the Father, the Son- Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. (2 Corinthians 13:14 NIV). Jesus is God, and He stepped down from His throne in heaven and came to earth, humbling Himself in the form of a human baby. He did what humanity has never been able to do- live a sinless life. (1 John 3:5 NIV) He then willingly died on the cross to take our place and pay the debt that we could not repay on our own. (Col 2:14 NIV) Then on the third day, Jesus rose from the grave, defeating both death and sin. (1 Corinthians 15:4 NIV). This provided a way for us to be connected to a perfect, Holy God.

Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one can come to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 NIV). When speaking to the disciples, they were perplexed about who Jesus was. Jesus explained to them, "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father." Jesus is the image of the invisible God, come in human form. (John14:9 NIV). He is the only one who can restore your soul, because He paid the debt that we are unable to pay.

If you have invited Jesus to be your Savior and partner in this life, and you are now sealed with the Counselor- the Holy Spirit that guides us through this life. (Eph 1:13-14 NIV) He will partner with you through the next two steps and will forever guide you throughout your life.
